Carl Philip dybwad

Chief Operating Officer

Carl is the COO of Climate Cardinals, one of the world's largest youth-led climate nonprofit, and a climate strategist, designer, and researcher from Oslo, Norway. His work spans multilateral policy, corporate strategy, and urban interventions, driven by the belief that creativity, when combined with climate science and innovation, can create transformative solutions.

Carl holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Management from the Yale School of Environment and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Constitutional Law from Sciences Po Paris, where he graduated cum laude.

In the international policy arena, Carl was a Norwegian Youth Delegate to Pre-COP26 and an observer for Action Solidarité Tiers Monde at COP26, where he advocated for loss and damage funding for the Global South from Nordic countries.

Professionally, Carl has held roles at Transparency International, Sound Diplomacy, and the Tsai Center for Innovative Thinking. He served as Head of Growth for Improvability, a high-growth ESG startup, and as a researcher at the MIT Senseable City Lab, focusing on urban design innovation. During his five years as Director of Impact at JUV Consulting (now part of UTA), he developed sustainability strategies for major brands, including IKEA, Procter & Gamble, and VF Europe.

Carl also serves on numerous advisory boards, including Open ESG, and continues to advance impactful climate strategy and innovation initiatives. Beyond his work, he finds inspiration in design, urbanism, architecture, and Arctic hikes.
