Climate Cardinals joins US Climate Action Network

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New York City, July 30, 2024 - Climate Cardinals, a youth-led nonprofit focused on expanding access to climate information globally, is proud to announce it has joined the US Climate Action Network (USCAN) as of July 2024.

USCAN is a network of 180+ non-governmental organizations that aim to meet the global goals outlined in the Paris Climate Agreement and work beyond the outlined objectives for the US. It is an affiliate network or “node” of the larger Climate Action Network International (CAN), consisting of 1100+ organizations across 90+ countries, which seeks to foster alliances between diverse stakeholders in the climate space.

"Youth leadership and participation in movements to address the climate crisis are critical. We are not talking about future leadership, rather we are talking about leadership that is needed now. We are excited and inspired by the promise and potential of Climate Cardinals' engagement in USCAN and look forward to what we can do together,” USCAN Executive Director, Dr. Ife Kilimanjaro commented.

As a new member of USCAN, Climate Cardinals plans to contribute its knowledge of and advocate for youth empowerment and accessible and equitable climate education. The organization recognizes that engaging young people is essential for a sustainable future, and this partnership will amplify its efforts to bring climate information to underserved communities worldwide.

“We are thrilled to join a network of like-minded organizations dedicated to combating climate change in a just and equitable manner. We look forward to forging new connections and collaborations that advance both USCAN's vision and the mission of Climate Cardinals,” said Jennifer Evans, Chief Operating Officer of Climate Cardinals.

Members of the network are granted several opportunities to convene with other members to build inter-organizational trust and align on mutual priorities. In included responsibilities, Climate Cardinals has the opportunity to participate in network-wide decision-making processes and discussions to promote the non-profit’s core values and advocate for youth-driven climate solutions.

Through this partnership, Climate Cardinals seeks to enhance the voice of youth and their concerns and solutions in the fight against climate change.
