2024 Impact Report: 16,000 Youth Empowered, 3 Million Words Translated, and Global Impact Across 134 Countries
New York City, NY – December 2, 2024 – Climate Cardinals, the world’s largest youth-led climate education organization, has unveiled its 2024 Impact Report, celebrating four years of remarkable growth, collaboration, and transformative impact. The report highlights the organization’s achievements in translating over 3 million words of climate information and engaging 16,000 youth volunteers across 134 countries, underscoring its critical role in addressing the global climate education gap.
Founded in 2020, Climate Cardinals was created to address the critical lack of accessible climate information for non-English speakers. While 90% of climate literature is published in English, only 20% of the global population speaks the language. Climate Cardinals empowers multilingual youth to translate and disseminate essential climate resources, enabling communities worldwide to access life-changing climate solutions.
Key Highlights from the 2024 Impact Report:
Engaged 16,000 volunteers in 134 countries in climate advocacy and translation efforts.
Translated 3 million words into 105 languages, directly reaching over 11 million people worldwide.
Forged partnerships with Google, UNESCO, UNICEF, and Translators Without Borders, leveraging Google’s AI Translation Hub to triple translation capacity.
Operates 130 chapters across 35 countries, with 81% based in the Global South, emphasizing equitable climate action.
Secured 40,000 pre-signups for the soon-to-launch Ambassadors Program, aimed at scaling youth-led climate advocacy.
Reflecting on these milestones, Sophia Kianni, Founder and President of Climate Cardinals, said: “This report is a testament to the power of youth to drive meaningful change. At Climate Cardinals, we’re proving that language doesn’t have to be a barrier to climate action. By making climate education accessible, we’re empowering individuals and communities to lead the fight for our planet.”
The report also highlights grassroots success stories, such as a chapter in Nepal leading flood relief efforts and advancing localized climate education initiatives.
Looking Ahead
Climate Cardinals’ next phase focuses on doubling its chapter network, creating innovative multilingual educational tools, and launching digital tools to enhance grassroots climate education efforts.
